Social media marketing and mobile devices go hand-in-hand with location-based applications such as Near.me, which lets users monitor trends in their own movements by applying data visualization from their Foursquare check-ins to plotted locations on Bing maps. The API integration with Silverlight combines the location-based check-in history of social users and their friends, and harnesses Foursquare data that would otherwise go unused.
Near.me lets users check out their friends favorite locations and vice versa, be that a bar, restaurant or music venue.
