Second screen applications enable viewer interaction like voting and contests, social buzz, and a whole new marketing platform that brands should pay attention to.

Gearing up for SXSW

It’s time to prepare for my trek to the digital mecca that is SXSW Interactive. This is the 21st annual Interactive SXSW festival, and it’s getting bigger each year. There’s a lot of romanticizing about SX’s ability to launch tech companies – particularly in social media – but it’s become a lot more complex than that. There are hundreds of sessions on everything from online pornography to corporate philanthropy. Speakers and topics are heavily vetted, and each time I go to Austin for this conference, my Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) is in full effect.
